Too bad they folded, I guess people didn't feel the need to pay for a service that was free elsewhere.

Yes Compnine is back up...

You get one free VIN decode...

Compnine

According to them, my truck is 1 of 11 made with some of the RPO codes listed on my factory sticker...

I did not realize it was so rare... It does have the TTZ RPO code - meaning a "Texas truck". Now in Michigan!

Not to burst bubbles and they are good sites, I went to my local dealer to get some touch-up paint and he looked up my complete vehicle build. I was asking a few questions and he asked if he wanted me to print off the screen. So, he printed off my complete vehicle build which has all the codes and what they stand for next to it.

Hi pvoltmer,

Getting a "build sheet" is fine. But that only tells you, what was placed on your truck, when it was built, and possibly when it was first sold. Nothing more... I have my original build sheet, and window sticker as well. You can also look up a carfax for your truck or car and it tells you only info that has been placed on that VIN number. If the repair shop did not use your VIN number then that service is never log onto the carfax. For example: The work that has been completed on my truck or cars by my local Midas shop, never hits the carfax. And any work I do myself, will not be on the carfax either. The carfax will not show the Corsa exhaust system or CAI, or Program tuner, etc. That I put on the truck... That's why I keep those records for myself, and possibly future buyers.

You can look up RPO codes all day long, but the real question is this.

How rare or how many truck like mine were built??? Compnine and decode this, give you those numbers. If you choose to believe in them. Just an example. In 2005 my truck with the "B4V" RPO code, only 4,701 trucks were made at the factory with that particular RPO. Of that number only 3,036 were VHO's. The color code U59, narrows that number down to 477. Once you place in "other" specific RPO codes, the number of trucks built at the factory just like mine is 11... I think that places it in the rare category...

No dealer has or will be able to give you that much info. You have to do a little research, and collect data from all possible places.

I hope this helped you understand the significance of Compnine and decode this, :D

1500VHO,

Compnine will not work for me (says VIN not found), and the decodethis only gives me what the options are/were available, doesn't give me definites on it. As far as breaking it down by RPO codes, I can't find where to do that either on decodethis.

Hi pvoltmer,

I just put my vin in at the comp nine link, and got numbers for it. At the bottom, it also gives me some choices to add certain RPO codes to check its rarity...

You are not able to do this??? Hmm

I'll try another VIN number...

I also placed my daughter's ZX2 number in and got back some info like: 38,902 were built and some options of that 2002 year...

I can't explain why your VIN is not working. You have a newer truck, 2009. Maybe that's the reason...
