Alright started my truck last week drove to the gas station put some gas in my truck started it to leave and my check engine light was on. So I drove to autozone to see what codes were on it and it was 171 and 174. The guy told me that it is usually a Mass Air Flow sensor and said usually if you clean it they will work again. So I got some MAFS cleaner and cleaned it. Put it back together check engine light is still on. Then today when I started it it was really rough idiling. It almost died after I started it. However the past few days it seemed to be idiling ok it was around 50 degrees out. This morning tempature droped to about 18 degrees. Im no mechanic by all means although if I know whats wrong I can typically fix it but I cant really afford to take it to a mechanic due to me being a broke college student any advice would be great help thanks.

forgot to add the truck has 160000 miles on it and 55000 miles of those have been in the past year

P0171 and p0174 are bank 1 and 2 lean codes. I would start by cleaning the throttle body and change the fuel filter along with running some good fuel injector cleaner with a tank of good quality gas. And have the codes reset and see what happens

Alright thanks it is probably the fuel filter never thought of that i bought the truck when it had 100,000 miles on it and it is around 165,000 miles now and have never changed the fuel filter.

What would you deem as a good fuel injector cleaner? Thanks.
