Climate control & Add a leaf

Postby lilmagoo1 [OP] » Feb 21 2012, 2:36pm

Hey everyone i have a few questions for ya'll...

So i checked out a few trucks and it seems to me like the plugs in the back of the manual climate controls and the Digital climate controls are the same...so one question is if i took the old one i have out to install the Digital climate control will it work. to me since i dont have all the wires hooked up i personally think it will still do the same functions it is currently doing..it just wont actually be about to do the dual climate...Right? i have no idea... but seems like it would work just wouldnt have all the functions and would be limited to what wires are currently on the vehicle.

Seond Question is i have an add a leaf on the rear end how much more weight can the truck handle? i know my frame didnt get stonger and all of the other parts but since i have that how much more towing/weight capacity does that give me?

to my understanding, the digital climate control system is way different than the manual one. the automatic uses the BCM, and other various sensors (ambient temp, etc...) for inputs. the blower resistor will also be different. i'm not sure, but the blower may also be different as well.

as for the add-a-leafs, that'd be a question better suited for the technical assistance people from whoever you purchased them from. but i don't see why a few extra hundred lbs payload couldn't be tolerated by the suspension.

I had a 2000 1500 with a 5.3 that wanted to do the same thing to...so I went to the local junk yard and bought a set of leaf springs out of a 2500 series. The are the same with and will bolt right up. My old springs had four leafs and the set off of the 2500 series had five leafs. The guy at the junk yard said they were rated a 1000 lbs more than my old set. I pull a 24' camper that weighs around 5000lbs. with that truck and have had no problems at all. They were well worth my time and money!
