Dealership owner told me this:

Chevy & GMC will remain separate because the existing dealer network would be all screwed up if GMC were to be eliminated ...

Think abut it - All the existing GMC dealers would now have to sell Chevy, and the local Chevy dealer (competitor) may be just around the corner ... not good - 2 competing Chevy dealers just around the corner from each other ... (well good for us buyers but bad for the dealerships)

I always figured they where pretty much the same thing. I chose the Sierra because I like the front end a lot better. After I got it I was comparing with some friends that have the nnbs Silverado and there are some differences on the inside as well such as the 4x4 and DIC are on opposite sides of the steering wheel.

They really aren't. What you were seeing is different trim levels. Trim level for trim level - they are the same except for the medallion on the steering wheel.

In my truck the 4x4 is on the left of the steering wheel and DIC is on the right of the steering wheel theirs was opposite. I was comparing my 2014 2500 GMC with a 08 and a 2012 Silverado 2500. The 2012 is an ltz, the 08 is an lt and my truck is an slt.

It is the difference in trim levels. Seen it both ways on both trucks.

This is definitely fact!!!

And Canadian GMC owners are better skaters! :D

Here's what I do know - when I purchased my 2005 GMC Envoy I was also interested in the Trailblazer. I asked the salesman one day why the similarly equipped Envoy was always more expensive then the Trailblazer and he responded that "I was paying for a bit of nicer trim and the name". I do know that the Envoy had options that were unavailable in the Trailblazer.

I purchased my Sierra a month ago and the salesman is a friend of mine...I asked the same question. Why is the nearly identically equipped Sierra more cash then the Silverado? His answer was, "little things like the trim around the wheel wells and you're buying what GM wants perceived as the upper end product".

What I know now is that if I could go back in time by 5 weeks...the Silverado would now be in my driveway simply because of the look of the frontend. But I still love my truck.

Rick.

The above posts pretty much proves the GayManCar group are the one's checking out everyone else's equipment in the bathroom and comparing size.
