Then the local GMC dealer got a used one in that was just what I was looking for. 2013 with low miles, cherry condition, & a decent price.

Two Comments here:

1. There hasn't been a D***e Truck since 2009. All Trucks manufactured by Fiat/Chrysler are branded as RAM.

2. No such thing as Regular Cab Short Box in GMs line up. All regular cab full sized trucks are either Standard Box or Long Box.

Your Truck has a Standard Box.

Edit - Really don't know why this site inserts asterisks in competing brand names and then lets the name RAM stay as is. What silliness is that?

Obviously I could very well be wrong, but I was always under the impression that the GMC trucks, while still essentially the same truck, were the more luxurious of the two.

I just bought a 2016 Silverado. Comparing the GMC vs the Silverado I very closely looked at both. To get the look I was after with the painted front end and bumpers on the GMC I would to have gone with the GMC All Terrain package. Instantly $5000 more money. Now, that package comes with items that you just can't get on the Chev at the same level. The Chev I bought is an LT, I was looking at a SLE Sierra. The GMC comes with heated steering wheel, power folding mirrors, spray in box liner, and a few other options that on a Chev you have to get an LTZ package. Just wasn't worth that much extra money to me. I like the look of both trucks, so I just saved my self at least $5000.

Any option your can get on an LT you can get on an SLE. Not all LTs and SLEs are built the same. I've seen an LT that looked basically like a work truck and I've seen an LT that was optioned out very similar to an LTZ.

Nope. You can not get heated steering wheel or power folding mirrors on a Silverado LT. Only LTZ Silverado or GMC all terrain SLE or higher packages.

Comparing the GMC vs Chev at the same type of look (painted bumpers) and similar model(SLE vs LT), the GMC comes with more options and $5000 more in price. The park assists is in an separate option package on the Chev, where with the All terrain it comes with. Just for me comparing the look I wanted(very little chrome with the painted bumpers), the GMC is just way to much more money.

I prefer the look of GMC over the look of Chev. They have afew more items on them than the bowtie, even the Base models.

I still prefer more chrome over paint. They obsession with black makes me wat to barf.
Thanks,
Will
