One of the biggest difference is Sierra is a higher end truck than Silverado. A lot of standard options for GMC are available but not standard on Chevy. Other than that no difference in trucks.

^^^^An untrue statement. However, the GMC has the Denali and the Silverado has no equivalent and that truck does indeed have a lot of features that are not available or optional on other GMC or Silverado models. Silverado WT, LS, LT, LTZ equals GMC WT, SL, SLE and SLT specification for specification, options and optional equipment.

BTW, What's a Standard Option?

Lou,

Look at the standard engine for the base SL Sierra and LS Silverado. The GMC standard engine is an add on option for the Silverado.

Came up with a 625 dollar difference between the two CCSB C1500 without any additional options for MSRP.

GMC Sierra has rear curtain airbags. Also new for 2012 the Sierra has EFI while the Silvy is SFI

I have no idea what either of you are looking at but, compare the PDF file extractions attached. Engines and safety equipment are in fact the same.

What I posted was from GMC's website comparison chart. Maybe the badging cost 500 dollars more or something for GMC. Take a look at the vehicles again without any added options. Just base MSRP for each trim level.

^^^^I did as you suggested and the results are puzzling indeed. It appears that the Work trucks are priced the same. LS Vs SL is a $200.00 difference. LT to SLE ranges from $370 to $470 depending on body style. LTZ to SLT is $500.00. Why, I have no idea???????? I looked at 2WD only. I have spent far to much time on this  See the chart I attached. All pricing is base price and for 2012 models and includes a $2K rebate.

I find the work that went into the last couple posts admirable....though I'm pretty sure we came up with absolutely no conclusions! I think it comes down to appearances and preferences. Speaking with a few guys I know at local shops, there hasn't been a difference in quality in any of the NBS or NNBS trucks (can't wait for the 2013 NNNBS or the 2018 hybrid standard NNNNNNNNNBS)

My experience has the trucks divided into classes, though the drive trains were all the same. I used to work construction, and me and the plebians in the pit would drive our Chevy 1/2 tons (various configurations and years) to the job site. The company truck that was used for hauling was a GMC 1500WT (it was after-all the "professional grade" truck!). The boss-man would always show up in a black SLE Sierra that was significantly cleaner than the average grunt's Chevy. The boss-man's boss-man (company owner) would roll up in a Denali and our jaws would drop.....

Of course these differences were entirely superficial, but damn it if they don't stick with you. Now that I've finished my degree and moved on to being a bit of a boss-man myself, I went straight to a black Sierra SLE. Maybe one day I'll be eligible for the Denali.....

I am partial to Chevy and that is what I Own. That being said after all my test drives and research there is really no difference in the two. Small visual differences but that just boils down to personal preference. I like the look of the Chevy and I have brand loyalty over the years to Chevy's. Is one more of a truck than the other. No. They are made in the same places with essentially the same mechanics. I even walked up to a GMC once in a parking lot thinking it was my Chevy before I saw the Bowtie wasnt on the back. HAHA
HI HO SILVERADO!!!
