I'm normally not a big fan of extended warranties. You need to think of how long he is going to keep the truck and how many miles he is probably going to be putting on it. You also need to read the fine print on the warranty he is thinking of getting, they are not all the same. Some cover a lot of things and some do not.

Will GM even offer a warranty on a 5 year old truck? If they do I imagine it wouldn't be for too long. In which case I doubt I would spend $1800 on it.

When my 05 hit the 5 year mark I got a lot of mail with different companies trying to sell me extended warranties. I think GM was one of them (I chunked them in the trash, didn't really read them).

If its a bumper to bumper extended warranty thru Chevy would be something to consider. Do not get an aftermarket warranty, thru some branded extended warranty company, bought one with a past vehicle total waste of money. Just my 2 cents

If you really want my opinion I would have to say he needs to drive the truck to worry about something breaking. A 2007 with 12,000 miles? Is that correct? If so, I wouldn't even be thinking of a $2,000 dollar warranty, I would question the need for the truck.

I can't say too much about the low miles. My 05 only has 34k on it.

If you decide to get extended warranty. I would stick with GMPP. When I use to work for GM, all the service advisors loves it when a client comes in with GMPP. That means money to the dealership, money to everyone. Parts gets paid, techs get paid, service advisors get paid. They'll submit every complain you have any a good percentage of the claims gets approved. When working for them, I have seen some of the most rediculous stuff they have replaced. Slow window motors, crack leather seats, seat plastic trims not staying on, shocks. Some dude warranty floormats! holy cow its ridonkulous.

I agree, if I were to buy one it would be the GMPP.

and about the low miles it was a truck he baught for 30k off a friend of his who lost their license.. i think he got the great part of the deal considering he bought it with 3k miles!!
