How many mods?

Postby dpaul [OP] » May 14 2011, 12:14am

The wife was not impressed with my newest mod that I brought home... chrome tow hooks. She asked, "What's that going to do?" I obviously had NO logical response that would make her say... "That's a great idea!"

I then started adding up the mods... the truck is only 6 1/2 months old!

Mods in order:
Bed mat
DSC_0006.JPG

Extang cover... this was needed given the hassle of my prior snap-type cover (especially in the winter... and I'm in Georgia). Trying to re-install the snaps in anything less than really HOT weather was a bear.

Step bars (Wife is 5 foot tall... her request)
DSC_0013.JPG

Wheel well liners

RC level kit... it is in the box for the 3.5" lift which was later bought. The box now has the OEM parts which were removed as well as the level kit blocks.

Tires/RC 3.5" lift kit

2" spring blocks which replaced the OEM 1 3/8" blocks... the 3.5" RC kit stacks a 2" block on the OEM block.

White Z71 decal for better contrast on a red truck

Chrome tow hooks... I don't know on this one. It goes well with the chrome bumper and I hope it is not to "bling-bling". But I'm still deciding. I better learn to love them for what they cost! I could have filled my gas tank 1.5 times.

Pretty much complete... I think the difference from stock is huge, but the wife thinks that "...it's just a truck... and can't really tell the difference"

Question:
Am I the only one? Has anyone done else done as many mods... especially this quick?

I've had my truck for about 6 months, too, and you can read in my signature all that I've done (some came with the truck, but it's still pretty far from stock). I like your thinking, though- why waste time with boring stock trucks, when you can add some awesomeness on your own?

07z71:
I got them from a local GM dealership... they had them in stock.

I can't locate a link, but I think the "gmpartsdirect" web site has info on it as well.

I think it makes the truck look cleaner, and it surely makes it easier to wash and detail.

GM put them in the front... why not the back as well? I believe I paid around $100.00 for the pair. You can install them with a beer in one hand and a floppy un-installed liner in the other. Once in, these things are in tight. They come with fasteners, I installed some, but not all of the fasteners. (Use both hands and put the beer down... installation only takes about 5 minutes a side... your beer will not get too warm.)

I feel you, I just keep putting money in my truck as well. The exhaust went in yesterday and my Extang Revolution and BedRug BedTred should be here on the 17th and 18th. My next big purchase is black 6" oval factory steps to help my 3 year old get in and out on his own and black bear tune in the not so distant future.

Blastin Bob's muffler back w/ Magnaflow muffler
BedRug BedTred
Extang Revolution Tonneau
Diablo Sport inTune....DiabLew tuned!
Black Rampage sidesteps.

No mods yet other than ripping the silencer out of the air box. I am very interested in those wheel well liners too... Gotta see what I can find!

I have a few but the one I am proudest of is a bumper sticker that says, "Will Run For Beer"
Marine because.
