Search for Recall's and TSB's

Postby EKinMN [OP] » Jan 30 2011, 12:40am

If you enter your vehicle information into this site, you can search for all Technical Service Bulletins (TSB's) and recalls. I thought this may be helpful information for our members.

TSB's: http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/probl ... /index.cfm
Recalls: http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/recalls/recallsearch.cfm

Sounds great. Perhaps this info belongs on a "links" or "tool box" tab?

I know this is an old post, but i think it might be a good one to get back on the wall so everybody to see. Maybe someone could get some more use out of it.
I WOULD RATHER HAVE IT AND NOT NEED IT.. THEN NEED IT AND NOT HAVE IT !

Re: Search for Recall's and TSB's

Postby T-Rex 2500HD » May 15 2012, 2:15am

I found this on my truck, I wonder if they fixed this yet. The truck has seen the dealer twice since purchase in August 2011.

Make: CHEVROLET Model: SILVERADO
Model Year: 2011
Manufacturer: GENERAL MOTORS LLC Mfr's Report Date: JUN 28, 2011
NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number: 11V339000 NHTSA Action Number: N/A
Component: STEERING:LINKAGES

Summary:
GM IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2011CADILLAC ESCALADE, ESCALADE ESV; CHEVROLET SILVERADO HD, SILVERADO LD, SUBURBAN, TAHOE; AND GMC SIERRA HD, SIERRA LD, YUKON, AND YUKON XL VEHICLES. THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT ATTACHING BOLTS MAY NOT HAVE BEEN TIGHTENED TO THE PROPER SPECIFICATION.
Consequence:
THIS COULD ALLOW THE JOINTS TO SEPARATE, AND THE DRIVER COULD EXPERIENCE LOSS OF STEERING INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
Remedy:
GM DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND ENSURE THAT THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT BOLTS ARE TIGHTENED TO THE PROPER SPECIFICATION. THE SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON OR ABOUT JULY 13, 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT CADILLAC AT 1-800-458-8006, CHEVROLET AT 1-800-630-2438 AND GMC AT 1-866-996-9463.

Why is it GM doesn't send out notices when there is a recall? I know in the past I have received a card in the mail telling me something was recalled.
