Your favorite Mods

Postby Dragon [OP] » Sep 23 2011, 12:56pm

OK, so I was talking to my sister last night and told her about some of the stuff I am planning on doing to my truck and she had the nerve to ask me why . I know right, well it's my money and I'm making it my truck so I say I want everyone to post up what there favorite mods they have done so far/plan to do and as always if you have pics post them up. So far my favorite is the pipes I got done massive zoom on the pics btw it shrinks my gallery pics by a bit they are all the max size have to reduce them by half before I can upload them
38063802
and the one I most anticipate getting done would probably be swapping out my center seat for the center seat/console of the newer Silverados with the lockable storage on the bottom and a :o armrest, why it didn't come with it I will never understand no one sits in the center of a vehicle with a manual transmission.

My favorite mods so far have been adding the Driver Information Center, but I'm not sure what it takes on the OBS. Also adding the factory locking tail gate since I have a soft tonneu cover, but you have to open the tailgate to release it. I wouldn't mind swapping in a locking center console as well, but for now that's too much money.

When you swapped out the exhaust, did you buy a stainless steel setup or just a regular exhaust?

Hey Dragon, hows Langley treatin' ya!? I was stationed there a little over 7 years, I was more than ready to get out of there when I did! Anyway, my favorite mod so far has been adding my new rear view camera. Loving it!

I really really want the DIC I had it on my last vehicle now I have nothing not even a outside temperature display hoping to get the mirror for that or maybe the DiabloSport Trinity tuner will give me a display of it. I got galvanized steel 3" pipes and then the stainless steel chevy tips they actually came free with the exhaust :D

I was thinking about getting me a rear camera as well just cause my stereo supports it, also Langley is great I seem to be the only one that thinks so though, 125mi from how you can't beat it. Also, that camera of yours is huge don't think I have ever seen one like that I was thinking of the one that mounts as a bar across the top of the plate using the plate screws to hold it in place, hope you get a good pic from that monster.

That's funny that your the only one that likes it, because I was the only one that didn't while I was there! LOL Funny how things can be so different for others and at other times. That's the nice thing though, you're not happy somewhere there's always that oppertunity to move elsewhere. May take some time sometimes but eventually it'll happen. Anyway, the camera really isn't that big, think it is the angle I took the pic. But it is a slightly bit bigger than the ones you're talking about. I had a Peak wireless before and it was alright, but was always getting a lot of interferance, at the worst time too, while I was backing up! So the interferance kind of defeated the purpose of the camera. I went to rearviewsafety.com and found this system. It may be twice the cost of the Peak system, but NO interferance since it is staright line system, no wireless. Plus the extra features just make it that much more better. It has 18 infrared LEDs, night time seems like day time! And the built in mic in the camera and speaker in the 5.6" monitor is an added bonus. They do have a smaller bar style with a 3.5" monitor that you mentioned, I got that for my wife's car, just need to get it installed.

Oh, and i got the baracket that mounts to the license plate for my system. The mount is just behind the plate to hide it some.

I don't have a pic of it yet but my stereo has a 7in flip out monitor with a hookup for a rear view camera that automatically turns on when it gets a video feed, so I won't be putting in a separate monitor for it just the license plate camera. Everyone I know here drinks and smokes all the time, and I do neither so I am alone a lot but I got my truck, bike and computer so I can entertain myself without any of them lol. If I had the monitor like you I would have mounted it into the lower dash, cut a place out for it loosen the frame and retighten with the plastic of the dash between the front and back covers, just me though don't like the way it just sticks out. Then again I am not a fan of keeping the stock radio, so much better sound quality, power and feature with an after market one.

Re: Your favorite Mods

Postby chevygirlkc » Sep 24 2011, 2:04am

This isn't the prettiest or flashiest mod but in my opinion this is the best mod. The EZ Down tailgate. Here's my example. I bought an 18 pack of Coors Light Bottles and a Box of Wine. I carried the wine box on top of the 18 pack and my purse on top of the box of wine. Bag boy always offers to help buy my motto is "if you can't carry it, you can't drink it". Anyway, I carried them out to my truck, balanced them on the step down part of the bumper (in front of the license plate) and way able to pop open the tailgate and then pickup my items and move them out of the way as the tailgate slowly decended. I then was able to slide the boxes in and they are held in the back of my truck with the cargo keeper (I measured the distance and made sure a case of beer will fit and the tailgate closes). Closed the tailgate with its easy up tailgate assist and with the tonneau cover still in place, I drove home with my purchases safely in the back.

Best Mod Ever. If you've got a wife or kids that like to help you open the tailgate, this is for you.

Kelly

Re: Your favorite Mods

My favorite mods so far are either: the Hurculiner I applied to the rocker panels, or the Hypertech programmer. The truck looks amazing, and goes really, really, really fast- what else can I ask for???

I plan on getting a leveling kit someday, and maybe some bigger tires\rims. Other than that, nothing major (that I haven't done already :D).
