Move Up To AMSOIL Quality

Postby Z15 [OP] » Jul 23 2012, 8:17pm

No matter what motivates you - price, performance or convenience - AMSOIL offers high-quality synthetic motor oils that deliver.

Price
While AMSOIL Signature Series carries the highest initial price, its extended-drain capabilities and outstanding performance make it the most cost-effective long term choice. Those who are not yet ready for extended drain intervals will be hard-pressed to find a synthetic motor oil on par with OE for less money up-front, and XL is an outstanding choice for those who prefer a twice-per-year oil change program. Chose how many miles you accumulate each year and choose the product that is most cost-effective according to your annual mileage.

Convenience
AMSOIL offers maximum convenience with motor oils that match your maintenance habits. OE is designed for motorists who change according to the instructions in their vehicle's owner's manual. With a drain interval of up to 10,000 or six months, XL is the solution for those who prefer a spring and fall oil change program, and Signature Series delivers guaranteed protection for up to 25,000 miles or one year.

Performance
Quality is first priority at AMSOIL. While Signature Series is the premier AMSOIL formulation, the OE and XL lines have been crafted with the same precision engineering to deliver exceptional protection in today's complex and demanding engines. Whether choosing AMSOIL OE, AMSOIL XL or AMSOIL Signature Series, you are choosing an AMSOIL-quality synthetic motor oil with guaranteed performance.

Which oil would be competitive to the regular Mobil 1 ? Is it the OE?

Yes, regular Mobil 1 and most all other oil company synthetic oils (without an oil drain recommendation) are comparable to OE.

OE has the exact same High Temperature/High Shear (HT/HS) properties, cold temperature performance and wear protection as XL without the extended drain boost.

I was just looking through some threads on Synthetic Oil and wanted to get some feedback.

I just bought a 2009 GMC Sierra and it was using traditional oil for the first 53,000 miles. I bought it and wanted to know if there are any PROS or CONS and what they might be if I switch to Synthetic Oil? Is it worth it? Please let me know GMC/Chevy gurus.

I'm in the same situation. Bought my 2009 Sierra with 57,000 miles. I have no idea what the previous owner used in it, but it could have used synthetic all along. They did an oil change at the dealer when it was traded in, so it probably has dyno in it and an oil analysis wouldn't help.

Do I have too many miles on it to switch?

Thanks for the feedback. I think it is worth the cost increase of Oil Cost. Maybe I am wrong. I did not really research.

I also am a late switcher. I went with conventional oil from 2005, but last year I switched to AMSOIL SS for the engine, and will be doing the tranny and boxes in the future.. Definitely worth it, I felt it run smoother on the first day. And when I check the oil, it's always good, never black and dirty.

Stealing an AMSOIL line here.. If you could change your oil only once a year, why wouldn't you?

No, as long as the engine is in good mechanical condition, switching to AMSOIL in routinely maintained vehicles will not cause any problems.

There are no special requirements for changing to AMSOIL motor oil. However, in older vehicles and with higher mileage, it may be advisable to use AMSOIL Engine Flush first. This will ensure the engine is clean and free of accumulated contaminants and residual oil that may affect the service life of AMSOIL motor oil. Installation of an AMSOIL Absolute Efficiency Oil Filter (EaO) at every oil change is recommended.
