Antifreeze flush

Antifreeze flush

Postby swindellfan [OP] » Nov 17 2012, 7:49pm

New to this forum. I have a 2003 silverado v6 with 130,000 miles and changing the antifreeze. Can't fine the radiator drain plug. Does it have one or do I need to take off the bottom hose to drain? Thanks

It should have one, unless it's an aftermarket replacement radiator and they didn't put one in it. It should be on one of the tanks near the bottom facing the engine.

If there's not a drain plug how can it be flushed? There's not a cap on top of radiator and the hoses come off the tank on the side. Maybe I'm just overlooking it. By taking off the bottom hose if I run water or flush through the tank on the side the water will never go through the radiator just flow out the hose.

I have a '95 4.3 mine was on the drivers side of the radiator at the bottom. But still on the side not completley on the bottom. Just on the bottom side. Mine was a plastic valve that when opened let the coolant come out. But for some reason the way it's positioned it comes count onto one of the panels then it flows out. I can take a picture if you want.

It's the piece right under the metal hose.

Edit: the pic I'd upside down. So it's really on the bottom.
