I am not sure how much of a difference you will really feel with a CAI on a 4.3L but anything that helps the engine breathe easier will always be an improvement. If the cost is not that bad I would do it. You should see slightly better throttle response as well as a small improvement in mileage, but nothing spectacular. The only minus to me is the cost in comparison to the amount of performance gain.

Try Spectre. You could probably build your own, since they sell the basic parts at auto parts stores.

Usually, a CAI is just the beginning- you'll want to think about an exhaust re-do, plus a tune, later down the road.

Interestingly enough....I've been thinking about doing this as well. Did a bit of research this morning.

According to K & N website, #57-3038, 57 Series FIPK fits "99-06 Silverado 1500 4.3L V6 F/I All" amongst other GM products with the V6.

They show a dyno sheet of totally stock vehicle with 54,485 miles on it and then with just the FIPK change out....a difference of 8.21 HP increase and 9.49 TQ increase, both at 4544 rpm.

Airaid also makes one for this truck.

Might be just what I'm looking for in throttle response when pulling my motorcycle trailer.

Was this a full CAI, or just a new tube? I have a sealed airbox stock for my 5.3L, but will be adding an Airaid intake tube and drop-in filter this weekend..

Don't think that'll work on a 4.3. This thread is about a CAI on a 4.3.
