Engine wont turn over

Engine Issues

Postby ZMarts47 [OP] » Dec 29 2012, 9:21pm

Hello all...I was hoping someone could help me out....Two days ago my engine refused to turnover when I tried to start it since then I've changed the spark plugs and wires...Tested all the spark plugs for spark(they were all good)...The engine will start to pop once in awhile but it never starts...I've had it in a heated garage for two days so it's all thawed out...I can can smell fuel when I keep trying to start it so im assuming the fuel pump is ok? I guess im really just looking for other potential problems...BTW when I plugged my computer into it I got the code P0300...Thank you for your time

id check fuel pressure with a gauge, you could still be getting fuel but a very low quantity and pressure of it? and how did you test your spark? grounding out plug on engine?

I used a spark tester to check for spark...I have not checked the fuel pressure I will look at that tomorrow...I am also going to replace my rotor and distributor...

So, to be clear, you state it will not turn over. Do you mean it will crank but will not run, or it will not crank?

I got it running again, the rotor was my problem...I also changed the distributor cap....BUT now the engine is running very rough...All my spark plug wires are in the correct spot...Do you guys think theres a timing issue and if so how do I check/fix it?

Did you move the distributor at all? Do not if you have not. If you have moved it, then you will have moved the camshaft position sensor out of it's proper location and it can cause poor driveabality issues. If you have moved it, you will have to have a show with a diagnostic scanner (not a code reader) reset the camshaft position sensor back in it's correct location.
