High idle after warm up

High idle after warm up

Postby USA1 [OP] » Mar 30 2012, 8:37pm

I have a 2001 4.3 Silverado and noticed yesterday after I drove for a few hours the idle increased. I restarted it later in the day after it cooled down and it idled normal. Today same thing, after warm up the idle increased to about 1100 rpm and also noticed the transmission takes longer to shift.....vacuum leak somewhere? I did replace the intake gasket a while back (coolant leak) but it has run fine since.

Is it showing any codes? maybe a idle pos. sensor or coolant temp. sensor my 01 4.8 did the same thing & it was the idle sensor. Good luck in your search.

Check your thermostat as well. If the thermostat if malfunctioning it could possibly kick the computer into thinking it needs to idle/rev higher to warm up. I know you said its AFTER its already been running but the thermostat may be worth a quick look.

The only code as of now is a PO 140 (o2 sensor), I did replace the thermostat when I did the intake gaskets, it had that code then but is working well now. Oh on that 140 code, what side is bank 1, drivers or pass thanks
