2002 4.3 with 140k. SES lights starts coming on intermitantly, seems related to fuel/fueling. now staying on. bought innova 3030 scanner, followed instructions to plug in and turn key on. Nothing at all happened. Am I doing it wrong? Can it be done wrong?

definitely check you DLC connector for power..it powers the scanner at the same time .....check the fuse

and on a stupid note it says "check engine soon" not "check engine now"

--sorry had to throw that in there

Check all the fuses. The "cigar" fuse usually powers the OBDII port. That may be your whole problem.

Thermostat might be bad keeping your truck in cold loop... running cold? Or your temp sensor might be going out? That's what that code is associated with.
