truck stalls

Postby mrgray [OP] » Oct 05 2012, 3:12pm

my truck randomly stalls sometimes under load sometimes coasting. cant seem to find a pattern of any kind. i can always get it to start back up but sometimes its 2 minutes later and sometimes its 25 minutes later. really inconvenient. new cap rotor wires plugs air filter fuel filter changed from cfsi to mfi injectors always has fuel pressure and spark even when its not starting. which makes me wonder if its haunted. someone told me it could be the knock sensor.. ?? guess i dont really know what the knock sensor does.

truck stalls

well ill help ya out with the knock sensor. it retards the timing to accommodate the cam? (i forget what it measures). so it pretty much adjusts your timing to keep your truck running right.. but if its bad, i can see why thatd be the problem

I don't know really anything about your engine, but maybe its your EGR valve? I had a 1990 5.7 and it would randomly stall on me, and it turned out that my EGR valve was bad, had it replaced, and it ran like a champ.

i got two codes i didnt think either would cause stalling. maf low volt and bank 1 second o2 low volt. the o2 code prolly has to do with my cats flowing more freely than normal ;)

Yes, I would think the MAF code would be more along the lines of the problem area. Remember, just because it throws a code relating to the MAF sensor, that does not mean it is always the actual sensor that is bad.
