Best Upgrade for 4.8 performance!

Best Upgrade for 4.8 performance!

Postby t_burn [OP] » May 24 2012, 2:52pm

I have a 2010 4.8L V8 and I'm wondering what I can do to get that quick response feeling in the pedal! I haven't touched anything in the engine and would like a good list of engine upgrades to add that feeling of power under the hood? Any ideas would be appriciated!

I have the Diablo Trinity $520 Air intake systems can vary from 130 to 500 and I'm not to sure about a Camshaft, I haven't really looked for one.

Texas Speed and Performance has some good set-ups and the price for the cam kit is on sale now for $599 (cam, spings and pushrods). They also have CNC cylinder heads on new cores starting at just over $1200/pair (those are fully assembled so they include springs). The cam kit should give you a solid 30rwhp increase, or more if you go for a bigger cam (which brings problems, imo, due to the relatively small displacement of the 4.8L combined with the weight of a truck).

This list of stuff goes on and on - heads, cam, intake and exhaust (headers + cat-back). Your budget and imagination are the only real limitations. Oh yes, and state emissions laws too.

Good luck!

smaller diameter tires or a different rear axle ratio? Unsure about air kits or filters if a couple of pieces of plastic or a different filter (a cheap way of doing it )would work why would the oem put VVT and cylinder deactivation ( expensive ways ) on their engines? i think the air filter on the 4.8 is the same as the one on the 5.3 anyway. Unsure if an aftermarket cam is around that works with the VVt on the 2010? Jack

I got a 4.8 single cab,did some lontube headers, deleted my cars and had my o2 sensors spaced out .built tranny with vette servo, superchips cortex tuner running ,93octane with stock 3.42 gears.runs a 10.06 in the 1/8 mile. I got more work to do but it runs pretty good for now. Oh and I just got new duals installed but that it y back in just before the muffler.that helped too
