Has anyone put a 5.3 Intake on a 4.8?

Has anyone put a 5.3 Intake on a 4.8?

Postby SDHQ GOODGUY [OP] » Aug 29 2011, 5:57pm

HAS ANYONE DONE IT??

I was talking to my cousin, and he had mentioned that he knew someone that has done this.

it makes sense, maybe even an inexpensive upgrade, or better flowing intake, maybe even more power??

any thoughts

trying to think out of the box.

I'd just slap on a cold air kit and call it a day.

to easy, everyone does that,

I'm starting a full build on the truck [prerunner], and trying to think outside the box.

if headers are the same, tuners are the same, cai are the same, why wouldn't the intake fit, or does anyone know any issues I might run into?

First let me start by saying that 5.3 parts will bolt right up to a 4.8. Now there is some differences, the 4.8s are round and some 5.3s are oval. But just doing that will not make that big of a gain. If you really want to see true big gains; bolt on heads, intake, throttle body, headers, and then get yourself a cam. But depending on how old your rig is, get ready for the lower end of the engine to fry from the increased engine pressures and torque. I started down this road already, but then decided to shift gears in to a diffrent idea. My planed build is huge for my truck, but im not spilling the beans till I start it.
I mod there for I am. The question is not why do I NEED a Supercharger, But why Do I not need a Superchager?

I HAVE A NBS, what about some porting and polishing in addition to the intake, so the 5.3 has a bigger throttle body as well? when i make the changes i was already planning on ARP rod bolts, that's what my dyno buddy told me I would have to do.
