Intake Question

Intake Question

Postby DoubleTre1552 [OP] » Jan 26 2012, 3:18pm

Hey everybody. I'm new and this is my first post of hopefully many. I have a '09 Sierra 4.8L V8. I'm interested in putting a Volant or K&N intake in. Now I've already been through some topics on Volant vs. K&N. My question is about finding one that is CARB exempt.

I'm one of those lucky people to live in Maryland who adopted the California emession standards. When I search the Volant & K&N website as well as online dealers all intakes for '09 4.8L Sierra's are 'Not CARB exempt.' Which from my understanding makes them not street legal. I know I'm not the only person who wants/put in an intake that lives in a state with these standards so if anybody can help me out I would very much appreciate it. I'm just curious as to where I go from here. If it helps any I was leaning towards a Volant intake.

Also, any additional feedback on Volant v K&N is welcome too.

Thanks guys.

Hi Double tre,

According to K&N, they are 50 state legal...

Link: K&N

The link "should " take you to your vehicle type... If not, you'll need to type in the info again...

The Spectra 9900 is also 50 state approved... From what I've seen, most of the CAI's are approved, but some just don't have the listings yet... I'll also "assume" that if it meets Califs Carb spec, it will meet Marylands

I'll keep looking, :-)

I hope this helped....
