The catch can is installed in line of the PCV tube. The PCV tube runs from the back of the drivers side valve cover to the top center of the intake manifold.

I installed the catch can right after i got home from having the trucks oil changed and then emptied it after the very next oil change. Im not sure if the oil type makes any difference on how much oil is collected but i have only used Royal Purple 5W30 sense my first oil change at 500 miles.

Oil Catch Can

Postby CuppT » Mar 16 2012, 6:56pm

rdss,
I thought the same thing about the line going to the intake tube, It took a lot of research to figure out which one was the correct one to install the catch can on.

After finding oil in my intake last night, and reading this forum, I went ahead and order my catch can from eBay. CuppT, so the PCV hose I want to use is located on the rear of driver side valve cover?

Oil Catch Can

If the 4.8L and the 5.3L are the same as the 6.2L then yes. I can add some photos to this thread once I get home of how I installed mine. It really was not difficult to install.

I'll take a look when I get home to see if the PCV valve hose is it right there. I'm hoping it is, that would make a very easy install!

Oil Catch Can

Postby CuppT » Mar 29 2012, 12:20am

Here are the photos of the catch can install. There is a hard plastic line that runs from back on the top of the drivers side valve cover to the top center of the intake manifold (not the intake tube). This is the PCV line that would need to be cut for the catch can to be installed.

Im not sure what the 4.8L intake manifold looks like or how they plumed the PCV line, so make sure you look first, do some research and make sure you have the right line before you make any cuts.
