2006 GMC Sierra SLT check engine codes P0157 and P2A04

Postby BLamb702 [OP] » Jul 08 2013, 11:46pm

So I bought a 2006 GMC Sierra with K&N Air Intake and Flowmaster Exhaust. I had check engine code that said MAF Sensor so I cleaned MAF sensor and Chrck Engjne light still came on. I put stock Air Intake and filter on and cleared the codes and check engine light came on and it says O2 Sensor codes (P0157 and P2A04) so I got a new O2 sensor and will put it on tonight. Then clear that code. Has anyone had these issues before? Truck has 86,500 miles on it. Truck runs good but check Engine light keeps coming on. Thanks

The diagnostics for both of those codes are: check the wiring; replace the O2 sensor; replace the pcm. Since you already bought the O2 sensor, you might as well try it. If that doesn't fix it, check the wiring. Let me know if you need any info on how to do that.

I changed O2 sensor and check engine light turned off on its own after 2 start up and drives. I had code cleared and it's still off I will see if a Check Engine Light comes on again.

Was the MAF dirty when you cleaned it? A dirty MAF can kill O2 sensors (as can a dozen other things...). Hopefully all is well, now.

The Check Engine Light came back on this morning, I don't know what else to try. Any suggestions?

Did you check to see if they were the same codes? You should do that before reading further.

Connector 1 on the ECM is the blue one. The easiest way to do this is disconnect connector 1 and the O2 sensor connector.
Check with an ohmmeter for a short to ground and short to power on pins 25 and 65.
Then check of a short to each other.
Then use a short piece of wire to jumper pins A and B on the O2 sensor and check pins 25 and 65 for continuity. There should be less than 1 ohm.

So I took it to Oreilly to have them read code and the only code that came up this time was P2A04. Not the P0157

They are basically the same code HO2S22. Does any of my last post make sense to you?

Not too much. I'm probably not mechanic savy enough. The dealer will diagnose it for $105. Would you do that? What are the odds the PCM is bad? I hope it's just the wiring
