2014 Sierra direct injection problems already??

Postby craigger325i [OP] » Aug 22 2013, 2:57am

So I am a tech at a GMC dealership in Ohio and I was given a repair order on a 2014 Sierra stating that the vehicle would not start. So I go out and turn the key and the truck would start but it ran real rough and had an extended crank. Kind of weird since this vehicle only has 105 miles on it!!! But anyway I pulled dtc's from the vehicle and the code p00C6 low fuel rail pressure. Called GM technical assistance and they had me test the high pressure fuel pump to see if the ecm was actually commanding the fuel pressure regulator(which is internal to the pump). Well after taking the intake off and inspecting the high pressure fuel pump I immediately saw the problem. I don't know what happened from the parts distributor or what but I believe the bolts were torqued way too tight and they just broke! It'll be a couple of days before we can get a new pump but I couldn't believe when I saw this....Crazy!!!

Man made; failures will happen. Appears someone's torque gun was not calibrated correctly at the engine assembly line.

I've got over 4,000 miles on mine and I haven't had any engine issues yet. Gets great mileage. I'm averaging about 19 city/ some Hwy driving.
The only probs I've had are a loose driver seat, and my power sliding bed window mechanism just broke into pieces.

I've heard of this a few times on the 14's... Hopefully they have gotten it sorted out already. I wonder how many of them out there are like this? We haven't had any yet. But I've heard a lot of no start complaints like this. Ending up being the same thing.

hmmm weird reading this...once in a while it takes a good 3-5 seconds to "want to turn over" in the morning where as when i first got it it seemed to fire right up...its around 35-50 degrees in New England right now so I've just come to expect that when it gets colder its going to take a little longer than normal to crank over but it seems as if its not getting enough juice or something in the morning....after it runs for a bit seems to be fine. but i will definitely keep an eye on it...especially only having 1300 miles on mine....but other than that so far so good and i love it!!

my 2012 is doing the same thing now, it almost seems like it stalls then revs high, then revs set in normally, after armed up there is no problems, have 32000 kms and just started doing it
