Active Fuel Management???

Active Fuel Management???

Postby mp17 [OP] » Sep 16 2012, 4:59pm

I'm sure this has been discussed already, but didn't really find the answer I was looking for. I have an 07 CC Z71. My AFM rarely ever goes from V8 to V4, even on flat road with cruise set. Dealer told me this could be due to dirty throttle body. Looked at it and it looked pretty clean. Any other suggestions? I know most people hate ithe AFM, but I'm just trying to get better MPG's. Have altered driving styles to both extremes and still average around 13-14. Obviously didn't buy this truck for fuel economy but friends that have same truck are getting much better MPG's!

Active Fuel Management???

In town? 13-14 isn't bad bud. Lol, I haven't gotten that MPG in a long time! But, the "basic" mods to help out with better MPG.......
1. some kind of air intake system. Many different set ups to chose from.
2. Aftermarket Exhaust System. Again, many different choices.
3. A Tuner is prolly one of the best ways to get better performance out of your truck as well as MPG.
****Also, if u do a lot of in town driving, find a good tuner
( DIABLEW TUNES! You can find him on this forum )
and disable the AFM setting. You sill notice a difference in your truck. I found my engine was a lot Smoother and I was able to get a little more MPG. (This will cause your engine to stay in v8)

Hopefully this helps u out.

there are a lot of variables that come into play as to when the DOD is allowed to be enabled... vacuum pressures, throttle position, vehicle speed, rpms, engine load, etc etc....

I've attached some reading material for you/everyone... ;)

Thanks Lew! I almost said something but I wasn't 100% sure but for them to say it was the TB right off the bat like that is a lil crazy to me. But, great reading info. Thanks again.

Also Lew, My Bday was on the 12th, I thought my wife was going to surprise me with a Diablew Tune........She didn't! So maybe for Xmas!
