I've been running a 'Mild' Comp Cam in my 6.0 for the past year exactly now and I've yet to have any motor issues, keep in mind i had it installed at the time that my heads were getting rebuilt anyways because i had a collapse lifter, but regardless been 100% satisfied, comp cams proven through and through

Thanks. Do I just replace the cam or are there kits to replace cams and all? I am an do plan on it, just wanna max it out before doing so. I already have a cold air intake, throttle body spacer, headers, and true dials with 2 1/2 inch piping with 2 Flowmaster 10 Series chambers dumped.

Comp cams has a cam/rod/spring kits that work great. I opted for a 212/218 cam. I did LS7 lifters/ and had the heads reworked / milled and put in new valve seals. The 243 heads flow pretty well and unless you plan on FI there isn't really much call for having them ported. I had them to a 5 angle valve job only because they came all apart. See which casting of heads you have and to a goolge search on them. Here is a pic of the head casting number. If you search for my ATI procharger engine build thread you will see a ton of pics of the heads and other goodies.

Love it, I'll have to dig up my old dyno results but if I recall it was almost 40hp, BUT that was with a pretty aggressive tune. It will rap out to 6K without skipping a beat, and since I know what is in it I don't worry about it. It is only a matter of time, I'll just have it rebuilt when I blow it up..I did manage to kill the stock 4L60e and had it built to a level 2 rating. Holy smokes, that was last fall and it would snap your neck shifting at WOT and chirp em in 2nd and 3rd. Had to tone down the TCM tune and change out some springs for a bit more drivable feel. Now that spring is here it is scheduled to go back for a new "summer" tune and to really dial in the TCM settings. It is all set now for a turbo upgrade and the 4L60e should be fine if I don't try to boost the crap out of it. The speed shop here did a 6.2 with a twin turbo setup for a returning marine. Holy smokes, nice and quiet driver... and when he stepped into it a slightly noticeable spin up and ... gone... really gone.. like holy f&%^ gone. Not corvette fast but for a 2012 4x4 crew cab Silverado pretty damn fast. He is over at performancetrucks. Both the tuner and I were more than impressed. So, if I do the turbo, I'll do the write up. I'm sure as much as this place has grown there are many other stories like this and I'm sure some nice builds I've missed.

Hola SS been a while.

That is good to hear, I have heard a lot of good things about this cam. Do you happen to recall what your torque was after the heads and cam?? I'm really looking for some much needed lower end torque out of my 5.3.. Any advice?

It was about the same but honestly I've moved on to another "toy" hotrod so some of the numbers escape me. I will say this, it pulls a trailer from a dead stop much better than it did and it has some low end grunt that it never had prior. After the tranny and a set of 1500 worth of tires I calmed it down and just use it as my DD. It does break loose on the wet pavement MUCH more easily, even with new Revo 2's. Was a bunch of fun in the snow. Mine doesn't have TC so its game on. Pissed off my old man in it, he has an Avalanche and always thought it was underpowered. I talked to Vinci, Comp Cams and Texas Speed plus "Pat" over at Performance Trucks. They all spec'd a cam and the one I purchased had been recommended by TS and CC. TS did suggest trunion bearing upgrades along with the hardened rods and LS7 lifters. My build thread has all the part numbers. Best part of the entire build... no more AFM and a stepping stone to FI.

Good Luck, tons of info out there, even more pro's. If you can find a local speed shop you can trust it is a plus. Heck, I get the guys at my speed shop Xmas presents. Make sure they have the tuning software, made all the difference. I could sit and watch them make adjustments to fuel trims and timing, all the while watching the HP numbers grow with each adjustment. Fun stuff.

Very nice, I am defiantly doing the cam, lifters, pushrods and spring but I'm not sure that I want to do the heads just yet.. I see you have the shorty headers. How do you like them?? Do you recommend them?
