Changing Coil Packs to MSD - Info

Coil Packs

Postby BigRedTrk05 [OP] » Sep 21 2013, 3:02am

I'm considering changing the coil packs ( over 100K miles ) from the stock units to MSD units. It appears MSD recommends an auxiliary wiring harness to connect the MSD coils.
Any experience with this installation???
Thanks, Ted

I would stay away from msd stuff.. tends to introduce misfires... have seen it a LOT... and you don't gain anything anyway... there's nothing wrong with stock coils and wires...

I had the original coil packs on my '99 with 270,000 miles, and it was still running strong when I traded it. If it ain't broke, why fix it? Only reason to change out coil packs is if you have a failure.
