The MAF will fit inline in your new CAI. Most Intakes have a place to fit them pretty close to where the factory position is. I would not change it or remove the screen as you will get no benefit for altering it. The screen does two things, it protects the sensor from debris, and it also straightens the air flow for a better reading. You need to have the MAF installed for your engine to run properly and get the right air to fuel mixture.

I am going to install the K&N 63-3070 - K&N High Flow Cold Air Intake System in my 2011 Silverado 5.3L. It is designed to use the stock MAF parts by installing them to the CAI. This product is about 300 across the internet but can be bought on EBAY for less. The only other one I looked at is the Volant brand.

I would also look into Spectre cold air intakes, they make a great product too:

I just installed the Volant Powercore CAI last night. I have noticed more power coming off the line. I love the sound of the engine roar now...Overall Im satisfied with it.

Installed the K&N CAI and I really like it. $207 shipped off ebay. Def can tell a diff in throttle response. Gives the motor a nice growl. I have not noticed any MPG increase though and I monitor my mileage carefully.

Anyone have a home-made CAI? Wondering if this won't do the same exact thing as getting one for $250. I'm thinking of keeping the stock box dropping in a high flow filter and building my own high flow tube. Can't be that hard, should flow more freely and should cost a heck of alot less. Any input?

I think home made would be nice:

The reason there is so much debate about CAI's here, is that no one can really prove a benefit. The stock air box and tubing is pretty darn effective. It's no Pringles can, but then again, what is? We really have done this topic to death....
