Cruise Control Problem

Postby texlefforge75 [OP] » Jul 11 2012, 3:52am

Hey ya'll..

For the last couple of months my cruise control on my '08 Silverado has been giving my a lot of trouble. The "c.c" light will come on, but the "c.c" will never engage. However, sometimes, if I am really really lucky it will. My Silverado only has about 55,000 miles on her, so shes still a youngin'. I have replaced the fuse, but still giving me trouble. What do ya'll suggest?

I know I sound like capt. Obvious but just covering all grounds and I don't mean at all to insult you, when you hit cruise control to turn it on then do you press the set button to set the speed?

As simple as it sounds you might try taking the wiring harness off the cruise module and cleaning it out with some electrical contact cleaner.

I believe there is a switch on the brake pedal that can cause problems, there are other links on this site regarding cruise control. I hope this helps

Thanks ya'll for the help. Everyone has been telling me that it can either be the unit itself or something to do with the brake system.

LGSONE- Where did you get the brake switch?

At the dealer. The return spring in it is weak and while your lights go out the switch still stays engaged. I replaced mine and it worked. I had the same symptoms you did.

Cruise Control Problem

Postby Bigredchev » Jul 12 2012, 12:02am

Lsgone is correct replace the brake light switch. There is no c.c. Unit on these trucks as it is fly by wire throttle. The cc is controlled by the computer.

Hey ya'll..

The Brake Light switch came in today.. Took a little longer than 20 mnutes to install it, but after I got it installed the cruise control seems to be working just fine. Thanks again for the advice.
