Recently I started seeing this issue with my truck, it doesn't happen that often though. My service 4wd light and brake light will come on. Also, the all the gauges shut off too and go to 0. This only happens for a second or two, very quick and then everything goes back to normal and the battery light stays on. Only happens once every few days. It drives fine afterwards with the battery light on and the battery meter reads normal.
Hate to say no without offering an alternate solution, but this doesn't sound like an alternator. Alternator going bad would just put you down on volts, but I don't think it would cause all the gauges to instantly stop functioning. Next time the battery light is on, see if you can get the alternator and battery load tested.
Alright, I'll start there. The battery is about 2 years old now and it's an Autozone Duralast. I can just go to Autozone and have them test it for free, then if it's bad they can also swap it out for free since its under warranty. Thank you for your help.
