Engine whine

Engine whine

Postby super12pack [OP] » Jan 23 2012, 3:25am

Have a 2011 silverado 5.3 only about 10k miles engine has a slight whine you can only hear inside the truck. don't think it is power steering because it doesn't change at all when moving steering wheel. it is heard best when you rev to about 2500 rpm and let drop back down while dropping rpm is when it is loudest.

Is it right at a gear change? The lower gears make a bit of noise in mine when shifting. You have a 100k power train warranty. I would not be worried.

My 11' 4.8 has around 5500km it has a slight whine as well I just assumed it was the serpentine belt being new. when I changed the belts on my last vehicle the whine was so prominent it sounded like a mild turbo.

i'd love to hear it for myself, at ten thousand miles i wonder if its not the cooling fan noise, are you sure its a "whine" and not a "woosh"

well i don't think it is fan because it responds to throttle and the truck has electric fans.
