how loose is too loose? Oil filler tube

how loose is too loose? Oil filler tube

In the process of pin-pointing a possible vacuum leak on my 02' z71. Intake manifold inspected, that checks out fine. I noticed yesterday that the oil filler neck is looser when pointing up like it would be to fill it. I know some wiggle is normal. But, how much is too much?

I checked the grommets on the cap and tube which looked fine.

I'd say for it to move about 1/8 of an inch should be ok. You can try to remove it and see if it is broken below the grommet.

Still a noob when it comes to this kind of stuff. Shot a video last night. Sorry for the crappy lighting. All I had was the under hood light. The bulb on my flashlight broke when I was hitting it to get it to work.

http://youtu.be/Ak2hAayhFGQ You can see my hand and the cap on the filler tube. The first time I move it, is when it's turned down, locked I think. And then I rotate it up and wiggle it some more. I pulled the tube and its completely intact. Grommets on tube and cap look brand new.

Sprayed everything with carb cleaner last night. Dad on standby with the fire extinguiser. Got nothing. Tried again this morning, thinking a completely cold engine would make a difference. Nope.

From what little I can see in the video it looks like a normal amount of movement. It seemed to hold pretty will when you tried to twist it too.
