NO harm to engine. It will improve mileage a little and a little with performance but the best combination would be to replace the tube from the air box to the throttle body to something that flow more freely and to also change the exhaust up a little so it breathes easier. Top it all off with a custom tune to make the appropriate changes to the computer.

I just bought my 1st K&N Filter. Havent noticed any big gas millage improvement but with a 3/4 ton with the 8.1L 496cu in. engine I'm not counting on noticing any real big number difference. I did notice however better acceleration and power when getting on the interstate. I bought it for the sole purpose of having an air filter I can clean and resuse.

I installed an airaid intake tube and filter using the stock box . I have seen a very slight increase in MPG . There was a post a while back that showed the difference between putting on a CAI and just changing the filter. And no the filter won't hurt anything...Also welcome to the site

All my vehicles have always had a K&N Filter..truck bike car whatever..the way I look at it is by the time you buy 3 oem filters your most likely already more than a K&N for cost..

That's right! I put one in recently. I have K&N's in all of my bikes and boxes. It's been a little lack luster in the truck. I haven't notice any real change in gas milage or performance. Intake has a little bit more of a growl but otherwise the only benefit I'm seeing so far is I'll never need to buy another air flter for the truck.

Sorry guys, i wasn't being clear enough about the warranty issue, it was in regard to changing the exhaust, intake flow tube to the throttle body...would this void my warranty? I know just the filter change wouldn't.

I put the whole cold air intake kit on my truck and have noticed a little bit of an improvement, if you are worried about voiding the warranty why not have the dealer put it on for you? I dont think that would void the warranty.
