Lifters on my 2007 silverado 1500

lifters

Postby HoytUSA69 [OP] » Apr 20 2012, 11:35pm

I have a 2007chevy silverado 1500 Z71. The traction control, stabilatrac, lights kept coming on , so i took it in to get diognosed. He said the # 6 cylinder lifter was collapesed it has 150,000 miles on it. From what im hearing this is a problem with alot of these new trucks. Why havnt chevy recalled this problem. This is a $2,500.00 fix this is crazy when u spend 36,000.00 dallars for a vehicle. Is there and body else out there that has this problem and is there any thing i can do or call to get answers.

So, what do the codes and messages have to do with the collapsed lifter? At 150,000 miles, you will just have to pay for the lifter repair (or do it yourself).

Sounds a lot like a wheel speed issue to me with those lights. I would find another guy to diagnose it as the diagnosis doesn't match the signs and symptoms.

That doesn't match the lights at all. Sounds more like an abs sensor issue to me than anything to do with the engine and that he's trying to get you for unneeded repairs. Get a second or even third opinion.
I've done so much with so little for so long, that I can do anything with nothing
