Mass Air Flow

Mass Air Flow

Postby ctfd157 [OP] » Jan 10 2013, 9:37pm

I drive a 04 silverado 1500. It has a K&N cold air intake. Yesterday i also installed the Edge Evolution CS programmer. The combinations caused my truck to stall at low speeds when i'm not on the throttle. I called edge they said most likely my truck is running to lean because my factory MAF cannot read well with the after market things. I found the Jet MAF online, says it works well with things like this. I was wondering if anybody has had any experience with this?

I have heard nothing but bad things about JET, Ive never personally used them so I cant say for sure. Try resetting everything and starting over.

your factory maf has been proven to work well with engine builds exceeding 500hp, the jet maf are pieces of shit ,disconnect your battery for a couple hours let your truck's computers reset and all should be good, just in case you havent already give your maf a good cleaning also

so after unplugging my battery for a few hours and resetting the computer, my MAF should work with the CAI and Edge?

Your CAI is in no way flowing to much that your factory MAF can't handle it. No need to upgrade your MAF...especially like mentioned above with something from JET.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but the programmer is not doing you much. It's a very "cookie cutter" style tune that hardly adjust any tables. They up a few shift points to make it feel like it made a change and that's about it. I would have a custom tune performed either in person or from one of the many online that can set you up.

+1

It's always a good idea to clean the MAF and throttle body once a year, at least. Don't buy JET products- they're poop. Also, I've heard EDGE tuning can be really crappy (at least in the diesel world... not sure about gas). Take the tuner off and see if it helps.

Return the Edge and get an Intune. You will be glad you did. I did a TON of research on this and did not read much good about the Edge. The Intune will give you far more options and the ability to have custom tuning done.

I have an 04,5.3(117,000 mi).. Was running poorly. Cleaned the factory MAF per instructions, here..Runs great.. I don't have a tuner or any tuner experience.. But common sense points to the tuner causing the problem.Factory set up w/ MAF.. runs ; tuner w/ same MAF ...stalls... Just my two cents. I do hope ya get the wrinkles ironed out so your tuner preforms as you want .. keep us updated & good luck !

yes it will allow your comp to relearn, its a recommended procedure after doing any engine work, i actually had to do it once after cleaning my airfilter lol, these guys are right that you wont see huge gains out of your programmer but it should still be a heck of a lot better than what your factory tune is
