Lol. Age is but a state of mind my friend. Those are awesome numbers too! The guy beside me just about fell out of his chair when I showed him that. He asked if you had a hundred pounds of air in your tires lol. Maybe our area is just not conducive to good gas mileage numbers. Idk. Someone living in Cleveland is probably getting in a lot more cruise controlled freeway driving than I do. My cruise is never on. Too many Amish buggies, dogs, deer, and stop signs around here for cruise lol.

Yeah, I have no complaints with gas mileage on this truck. My 2000 ext cab Sierra didn't sniff those numbers.

Glad I could make your buddies day!

Don't get me wrong here. I absolutely believe you. I wouldn't call you out like was done to me in the other post. I believe that different driving styles will yield different results. No doubt. And my average launch is probably well over 3000, I know from time to time its pushing the non existing red line on my tach. And I'm back to work now....engineer is standing here with his hands on his hips lmao.

Re: MPG question...

Well here's what I KNOW to be true by my own experience.....I was getting 15 MPG average and added a CAI. My mpg's went down a little the first tank, and the jumped after that. I didn't alter my driving style any, maybe taking off harder to hear the CAI, so I can conclude that the CAI actually helped my gas mileage. I also know there are a lot of you getting better mileage than anyone around here. Some not so much, but others way more. And I commend you for obviously taking good care of your rigs and being conscious of your mpg's.

When I live on campus during the school year I get about 17.5. Then when I come home for the summer, I get about 15. The reason is I live on a mountain lol and the up and down is hell on tires, brakes, and mpg. I try to keep my foot out of it as much as possible, but sometimes that just ain't a possibility :)

Re: MPG question...

Postby Voodoo [OP] » Jun 04 2012, 9:56pm

This is a good point. It's just amazing to me that there can be so much difference in mpg from varied terrain, driving styles, gear ratios, and something we haven't even mentioned yet, Octane rating. It's hard to fathom that I was getting 15mpg and some are getting well over 18. It's also hard to believe that most everyone around my area says their mileage is 15.5 or less. The same trucks in a different region get better mileage.

I started this topic to prove a point, which didn't really work in my case. It was shoved down my throat that 17.5 is normal for these trucks. I'd NEVER heard anything like that before in my life. But it seems that there are guys who are pulling that off. Some even better. So I would have to agree with my attacker that 17.5 seem to be about the average from what has been reported here thus far.

As far as being called a liar....didn't care for that too much. When someone asks for numbers, and I post my experience, then someone posts "be careful about what others ""claim""to be getting, sounds like I'm being called a liar in my book. And that pissed me off.

Thanks for everyones input and their experiences. It's been really cool hearing what everyone gets mpg wise.
