Multiple Cylinder Misfire

Multiple Cylinder Misfire

Postby mramirez23 [OP] » Apr 18 2011, 1:37am

2008 Silverado 5.3 LT Crewcab w/ 58,000 miles

Anyway, just recently my truck threw code P0300 Multiple Cylinder Misfire.

So, I did the obvious:

1) I have a Predator programmer and the first thing I did was return it to a stock tune.
2) Then I replaced the Sparkplugs & Wires.
3) I used the Predator to isolate the problem, it was Cylinder 7
4) So, I swapped coil packs from cylinder 7 to 1 to determine if it was the coil pack.
5) My truck is still saying that cylinder 7 has misfires, however the code hasn't returned. The only problem is that I've hardly driven the truck for the code to show.

Any suggestions?

Thats pretty low miles to be having those types of issues. Did you get a slug of water in the fuel or contamination?

Nope, no water has been consumed by my truck.

First thing I would do is make sure you're getting fuel/spark to that cylinder.

I bet the dealer replaces the # 7 Fuel injector.

They told me the truck was still under warranty for the 5 year 100,000 miles. Hopefully everything ends up being FREE "as I cross my fingers for luck."

Okay, so the plot thickens! The dealership just called and they asked me if I had a programmer installed. Of course I said NO. But they said that due to the fact that it had a flowmaster exhaust, K&N Intake, and throttle body spacer it was throwing the code. LOL, I've had all that installed for quite sometime and to boot, they're all CARB legal. They said that programmers are "known" for blowing pistons.

I'll keep you guys posted on any news on the next episode...lol

Get your truck back and do a compression test on your motor. That'll tell you if anything is wrong internally or if it is a fuel/spark/something else problem.
