Oxygen Sensor

When to replace

Oxygen Sensor

Postby jcarr [OP] » Oct 01 2011, 5:52pm

I am the original owner of my 2000 Chevy Silverado 5.3L Standard Cab Sportside pickup. I have 187,xxx miles and have had relatively few issues for its age and mileage. In the past 12 months I have replaced the water pump, fuel pump, fuel line assembly from tank to engine(leaking from corrosion), brake pads and rotors and flushed the transmission and rear end. Is it necessary to change my O2 sensor if I am not having any reduction in gas mileage or any other issues that could be 02 sensor related? I am curious after seeing different parts stores selling O2 sensors as a tune up related part.
Thanks
Justin
