PCV Valve

Thought I change it

PCV Valve

Postby Raffi [OP] » Jan 26 2013, 5:49am

Hey guys,

I bought a $5.00 PCV valve. When I had my 95 GMC no problem changing it. I tried to change it on my 2006 I couldn't get it to budge. Yes its the PCV valve on the driver side valve cover near the fire wall. Is this piece press fit? any ideas on how to pull it out?
thanks

I know on the 07+ trucks GM uses a fixed orifice PCV that is non-serviceable. I believe that may have been the case on some of the later model GMT-800 trucks as well.

It does have the valve. It was $5.00 and according to the dealer it should be changed out. I just couldn't pull the little sucker out of the hole. I plan on calling the dealer my service guy will be back on Tuesday. I even received a pm from Chevy saying its a good idea to change it. Especially if there is any oil consumption issues. Lets see may be I can have the dealer change it. It should only cost about $500 for a $5.00 part. If any one has any ideas how to remove it that would be great.

I was referring to the information the dealership had provided me. I did send you another PM. Please let us know if you have any further issues with the vehicle or dealership. Thank you.

It is a fixed orfice barb pressed into the rear of the drivers side valve cover. We usually drill the orfice out slightly larger as they are prone to clog with varnish/buildup.
