Seafoam

Seafoam

Postby Chevyguy23 [OP] » Mar 22 2013, 4:56am

Ok so this has been asked a million times already but I haven't seen one forum for seafoam on a nnbs truck. 07 and up new body style. Can anyone have some input on a how to for this topic. How much to put in. I don't want to put any in my oil. Just gas and brake boost line. So would I put half and half or use a different ratio? Any help will do. Thanks

Half and will work fine but others do 2/3 tank and 1/3 booster line...

When I did the seafoam through the brake booster line of my 2011, I had a couple of minor problems. When I pulled the line the computer began to increase engine rpms. It would not just idle but the engine went to 2500-3000 rpms. Also, after the treatment I got a check engine light. Since I had the Intune, I cleared the light with no further problems. Just my experience with the 900 trucks.......

That's the reason I'm hesitant to do it. I've heard alot of great things about it and then I hear a few horror story's about getting CEL's and hydrolockd engines. Anyone else have more input on this or other solutions to clean out the fuel system?

I've been using amsoil power foam. Same concept, but you spray it in the intake after the maf. Its a little more expensive but easier to use. You can contact either member z15 or me to hook you up.

So i know this post is somewhat older, but i have a current problem with my 2010 5.3 silverado and it is exactly how yours went sylvester13. Just bought the truck a few weeks ago and did my first seafoam cycle today through the booster line. I ran it on my 05 and it wasn't so damn scary like this one was. Truck runs fine but i have the CEL also. Have you ran into any more problems or did you stop using seafoam altogether? I'm gonna check the code at work tomorrow, but i'm still worried. Next time I'm gonna use the seafoam spray and shoot it into the TB. That's definitly the safest route I think.
