Spark Plugs?

Postby SilveradoZ-71 [OP] » Jun 14 2012, 4:06am

My 08 Silverado just clicked 102K miles, when do you guys recommend changing the plugs? I don't have any engine miss or problems, just figured it may help my MPGs if I stick a new set in? Also what brand? I have always used AC Delco in my Chevys, do I need to stick with them? Another question is there a replaceable fuel filter on this truck? I've tried looking it up on AutoZone's site but it doesn't show one?

Thanks guys I'll get a set put in soon. Any suggestions on plug wires? I'm a Mack/Volvo truck tech, haven't had to play with any has burners since I sold my old 86 k10! Lol I'm used to working on the big boys everyday. Doing a engine swap on a mixer now.Image

I've heard these platinum plugs don't give you the warning (rough running) older plugs give when they're about to go. Therefore we're supposed to replace them at 100,000 miles, even though they appear to working great.

Anyone else hear this same story? Can't recall where I heard it.
