could be the gas cap itself not holding a seal... get a new gas cap...

OR

it could be the valve on the evap canister itself...

I had the same issue with my car a few years ago, tightening gas cap didn't work, light came back on... took it to the dealer and they found that the valve on the evap canister was stuck in position... so, they replaced it, and it's been fine ever since...

get a scan tool and scan for trouble codes... the code I had was P0455 I believe...

I had this happen with my CTS once. It can occur if the engine was just once started with the cap not completely tight. And by tight, means turned past the racheting, not stopped before ratcheting . It can take several engine starts to clear this code but it should evently clear if its the gas cap.

I had code p0449 on my 07..The evap solenoid canister and hose was rerouted under warranty. Its located by fuel filler neck where it would collect tons of debris then it would stick open. I got a new one under warranty.then the dealer put it in a different area so it wouldnt happen again..Same thing happened to my 07 impala just now :( ..no warranty. fixed it myself in 20 minutes. Dealer quote is 300 bucs. part cost 36 bucs form amazon..these fail all the time..they screw customers on this..easy fix. Also there is a youtube video of this on a suburban and impala..hope this helps

Gas caps are cheap. Having it scanned at a local parts place like AutoZone is Free..
