I would look into a Whipple Supercharger. People seem to be very happy with that.

I've been looking into this as well. So far best kit I've found is from STS.

Definitely don't take the cheap route when it comes to high performance. Most of the time it will either go two ways. 1 you can barely tell the difference. Or 2 something easily breaks like the little turbine and a pieces runs through your intake and you have to take off the top end to fix it and STILL a waste of money lol

If you live in areas with severe elevation change like me. I would get a turbo, a supercharger would only cause problems.

Re: turbo

I've got a supercharger on mine and have taken it up to 8,000 feet with no problems at all, never noticed any change in how it ran. I love mine and would never go with a turbo but I know everybody has different needs/wants so what's right for one person may be completely wrong for the next guy. The kit that's on mine will fit the 5.3 as well (different part # for a truck of your year though because I've got an OBS) and on a 5.3 adds 120 hp/120 ft lbs. Personally I like the look of a supercharger much better than a turbo setup because to me it's a much cleaner looking install, that combined with the fact that there's absolutely no lag and it pulls like a mule make it perfect for me. Whatever you decide, good luck with the install and have fun with it!

You can also look at ATI ProCharger w/ intercooler. SLP has a pretty nice Radix/twin screw style and if you're near NJ, they are offering free installs this month I believe. STS is the only turbo Kit I know of and have heard of problems with the oil pump supplying oil to the turbo and the turbo taking a dump because of it, believe it was on here if you want to dig for it.

But like stated above, you go cheap it will cost you more in the long run.
