Turbochargers

Turbochargers

Postby eschmalz [OP] » Dec 10 2011, 7:21am

I am thinking about getting a turbo for my 5.3 but i'm not sure where to start. I haven't been able to find any turbos specifically for my truck, and I don't know how to choose a turbo in general.. Does anyone know of a good product that they would recommend? If not are there any other mods that I could do to gain hp?

The speed shop here in KC I go to has turbocharged several Avalanche's and Silverado's with the 5.3. He showed me the dyno results and it was pretty impressive. But, they were custom fabrications and were too rich for my blood. I had done some looking for a "kit" to no avail. Superchargers, yes, but not this. Let us know what you find out.

I've continued to look, but I am still unable to find any that work for my truck. I considered superchargers but they seemed way to expensive for me, so i'm not sure where to go next. But thanks anyway.

Turbo kits are usually a LOT more expensive than superchargers.

It's not that the parts are expensive its all the fab work involved with it. You need to find a good fab shop in your area and then you need to do a lot of research about turboing in general.

Not sure if a ls1 manifold would work but here is another site that might help.

A turbo kit for your 5.3 is going to be really expensive if you get any reputable company kit. You would be better off get a supercharger and save money in the long run as well.
