I find the best way to get the accurate fuel mileage is to fill it up, zero the trip meter and drive almost a tank out. Note the miles on the trip meter when you fill it back up. Divide the miles on the trip meter by the gallons used to refill it and you will get the EXACT MPG for that tank. It's not really hard, it just takes a bit of time. It's a lot more accurate than reading the fuel gauge and trying to judge from that.

I agree, that was the point I was trying to make. I also find one tanks mileage to not mean much. I find that I have to trend it over a longer period of time for really accurate results.

I guess you came to the same conclusion that he did; the plugs are all hype and not really worth the money. Thanks for letting us know whay you found out.

Im glad i did it cause i know first hand that they r great at first but you start to see why ac delco is the better. The material is better than that in the E3. now everyone knows that in our trucks, rhe E3 is only good for 5k quality miles and thats it. Anything over 5k will not be as good. I was so happy to put my iridiums back in. Glads thats done and behind me.

After reading all of the posts, I'd like to see real results from timed tests and dyno readings to prove that the E3's are better at the beginning of their life. If you research real tests on the E3's, you'll find they don't increase power or acceleration to a point that an individual can actually feel the difference while driving. It's somewhere in the range of about 1/10th of a second improvement in the quarter mile over stock plugs. If you can feel that in the seat of your pants then you have something there the rest of us don't. As far as your mpg results go, you should follow the suggestions of Jordan and learn how to accurately measure mpg. Looking at your gas gauge and saying you've probably used 6-8 gallons of gas doesn't fly! That only gives you a ball park figure and comes no where close to real numbers. You wouldn't do too well in the aviation field if you estimated like that. Well, you could do it once, anyway.
Thanks for taking the time.

The ac delco iridiums in most of our trucks are just restamped NGKs. NGK TR5IX or TR55IX iridiums are the same exact plug as the delco. That is a fact.

For my .02 e3s are junk... 5k is a joke.

Hello everyone. Nice forum. I have a 2006 GMC Sierra with 175,000 miles with factory plugs. It seems to run great. Is it irresponsible to keep running these plugs or should I change them on principal. I never imagined a plug lasting this long. I am the original owner.

Thanks in advance!

I would replace them. If they are getting a larger gap in them it creats more resistance and is harder on the other parts of the ignition system.
