Throttle Body Spacer

Throttle Body Spacer

Postby 401tk [OP] » Feb 03 2012, 6:45pm

Hi Guys, My truck came with a TBS when I bought it 2 years ago and I would like to take it out. Do I need shorter bolts, a new gasket, ect before I attemp to take it out? I didn't receive any of the original parts with the truck. Any advice would be much appreciated!
Thanks,
TK

Without seeing your setup I would think it would need shorter bolts. You could probably get those from a junk yard.

Actually, you don't. I had one, and then took it off. Instead of paying $20\bolt like the dealer wanted, I just cut down the threads, and used washers as spacers to fill in the extra gap.

That would work, but I'm really picky about the right bolts being in the right place. I, myself, would go get the right ones. I'm a bit OCD though.

Same here, but I wasn't about to spend $60-$100 on 3 new bolts. I was floored when the parts guy from the stealership told me what they wanted for the bolts; and none of the auto parts stores carried that size.

I'd try a junkyard. I agree, at that price I could get over my OCD. lol.

Measure the spacer take a bolt out and hand it to the guy at the counter of a Fastenal store or a good auto part center or even a good hardware store and tell him you need these bolts but shorter by the amount of the spacer. Fastenal may not have them on the shelve but could get them for you in a few days and only cost you a buck or 2.
