My 07 Silverado LTZ Crew Cab 6.0L has 81000 on it. I noticed a fifty cent size drip on my garage floor. It looks to me it is coming from the Trans cooler lines. Any body replace these before? How much you think the lines would cost? I think I could replace them my self. Dealer said not part of the Drive train warranty. (Figure That) If ant body has done this could you send some good direction? Going to Sturgis in August pulling a 7x12 inclosed trailer with two touring bikes, don't want to chance a busted trans out west. Thanks for any help.
This is a pretty common problem. Some guys just remove the factory crimps and replace the rubber part of the line and use clamps to hold the new hose in place. If you go this route I would suggest using fuel injection hose clamps. They clamp much better that regular worm style clamps.
Ive seen people re-clamp the original lines too but they dont ever seem to last. Trans lines are cheap and the labor isnt too bad. Pull the extention housing off the front diff to give you more room. They arent too difficult.
It doesn't all have to come off. Tht pic was just for reference. I actually installed mine without taking anything of... Just took the top lose an was careful not to break nothing. I wouldnt do it again though... To easy to let the grille loose!
Took mine to a dealership & the mechanic recommended getting hoses made up at an hydraulics shop. Cheaper than oem and the new oems will leak soon too.
The oem hoses are not expensive (relatively speaking) if you order them online. Idk exactly what they cost but I ordered a oem cooler kit which came with hoses for $90. So ide only assume that without the cooler, the hoses should be cheaper...
