6.2L gas mileage

Postby jfusco20 [OP] » Aug 11 2011, 7:47pm

I am looking at getting a Sierra with a 6.2L engine and I was wondering what kind of gas mileage you guys are getting? Also what kind of upgrades would work best for that engine?

i have the 2011 gmc sierra deanli with the AWD and i usually get around 12.5 in the city 15 hwy. has the cold air intake and only use super. Im a little heavy footed at times thoe. even when im being good its only around 13. If im on the freeway doing 65 i can get around 17.

Thats actually pretty good mileage! If I just get a four wheel drive and not an all wheel drive, I could possibly get a little better gas mileage?!

Mine is 4wd but has the 3.73 gears and 17" wheels. The Deanli has the 3.42 gears with 20" wheels... but his numbers sound about the same as what I see. I get 13 in town with no hwy to factor just yet. I will be making a 6 hour trip to the beach in a week so I can update with how it does then, but I am thinking I'll see around 17. I do not have a heavy foot.

Is that 8 MPG off of the DIC, or 8 MPG measured at the gas pump? MPG measured from the DIC can be off a little bit, especially if you don't change the speedo\odometer settings with the bigger wheels.

Guys with 3.42's on another forum are reporting in the 18's on the highway. Really it depends on how you drive.
