I put the bully dog GT gas tuner in my truck about 4 months ago. So far im getting 11mpg average and a high of 16mpg highway. Also used it to re-tune the stock settings on my 8.1L, and so far ive noticed alot better performance. with everything at performance the estimated HP is 300 and TQ is 386. When i tune it to regular gas and the trans at tow, i get 337hp and 407 ft lbs TQ. Anyone else seen or used this?

I added the bully dog graph slips in my pics, which also includes run times on 0-60 ft, 1/8 mile time, 1/4 mile time, and 0-60 speed time.

This post is a bit old, but I just picked up a 2005 Silverado 8.1L CC 4x4. It's lifted with 35" tires. My first tank was 8.5 mpg (hand calculated and GPS corrected), so I have the Bully Dog on the way. I'll post results after install as it seems 8.1l performance/tuning information is minimal at best...

Look forward to seeing what someone else gets with the tuner. i get a average of 11 MPG going up and down mountains in hawaii. And about 15 highway when not so many hills

It's good to hear the 11-15mpg. I got rid of a 2004 Ford 6.0 with 8" lift and 37" tires that was getting 12mpg average. The 6.0 diesel was costing me a fortune in repairs, so I decided to get back into a gas engine.

The Silverado also came with a Volant intake and Flowmaster cat back exhaust. I've already replaced the Flowmaster muffler with a stainless Magnaflow (can't stand the sound of a Flowmaster...).

Also, today I did a quick plug check and found what appeared to be OEM spark plugs installed...and the truck just rolled over 100K miles. The plugs were toast having gaps from .070 to .095 (yah, no kidding!). I cleaned my MAF sensor along with installing new Autolite XP Iridium plugs (gapped at .045 per posts I've read) and new plug wires. I'll get a feel for MPG with this combo and when the tuner arrives later this week test again for MPG.

When i got my truck it also had the OEM plugs in it, that was at 92K. The gaping is supposed to be .06 that's what it says under the hood. I put AC Delco plugs and new wires on it. The 8.1 does eat some oil just as a FYI. And i just replaced the valve stem seals this last weekend. Because i was getting oil on my front cylinder and plug. Also planing on putting a exhaust on it flow master 50 series, as well as a throttle body spacer and cold air intake. If you want to go extream performance look in to a company called rylar engines they custom rebuild 8.1 engines.

Thanks for the info. I know about the stock .060 spark plug gap, but have read many posts about lowering the gap to .045 with excellent results. Figured I would give it a try...

Skip the TBS, friend. I've tried it on my 6.0, and it didn't do much at all . You're better off spending that $100 on some AMSOIL, or something else that benefits your ride.

im not trying to put any synthetic in my truck. But anything i can do considering the limited amount of performance options for my truck ill go ahead and throw it on.

How come no synthetic? In oil comparison tests, when then engine is run on a dyno, better oils can actually allow for a few extra HP, something the TBS won't do.
