Suggestion for old threads

Suggestion for old threads

How about auto-archiving threads that go for a year with no posts? They can still be read, but it would prevent someone who didn't notice from bringing it back, when the issue is more than likely resolved.

But what if the issue wasn't resolved?

that would probably be possible if we can find a plugin but that would mean that if there are threads that are unresolved, users would need to open a new thread.

After a year, the OP probably moved on. Or if he left and then wanted to update the thread, the OP should have the ability to post whenever. But seeing so many threads being resurrected, and if not checked on each one, people just keep replying not knowing it's effectively dead...

This site is here for people to find answers. If someone asked a question 4 years ago and no one else had the issue till today, so be it. I don't see any reason to archive posts, we are, in a sense, a database for answers to questions.

It has nothing to do with that thread.. Monte was being a donkey be reviving that thread after I made this thread... I only made this because I wound up replying to a comment somewhere else, but then realized that comment was made 4 years later..

So Monte and others have had fun with my old HID thread...

I just feel like the clutter of unanswered threads will make it harder to find relevant information.
Be it that if they are looking for answers and they find a thread with a question similar to theirs.... something tells me a new thread will still be created so they can customize to their info specifically.

all in all, again..just my point of view on it. Carry on
