285/65/18 BFs TA?KO pressure

Ok..took the truck for a jaunt around a few city streets and down the freeway. Ride may be marginally stiffer on the streets but hardly noticeable. I carved a few corners aggresively and it seems firmly planted at the higher pressure. You'd have to really lead hard into turns to get them to chirp. At speeds betwen 60 and 80 they ride quite smoothe surprisingly quiet for such an aggressive tread. I'll be keeping them at 48 psi for now. For what it's worth, the load rating on these specific 285/65/18s is 3640 lb.@80psi. Each tire size and rim application will have their own.

whats your thoughts on the stock tires? I think it is a 265/65/18? Stock z-71 tires for a 2011. It was delivered at 32 but i think that is too low for this application

Check the tire psi specs stamped on the sidewall of the tire. Bump them up to near max, run them. They will probably feel very stiff and jarring. This psi or alittle lower is generally used for heavy hauling or towing. Again, its about finding that sweet spot you like that is within range of your tires psi specs. 32psi is on the low side. Stay in range and play around with your pressures. Start high and work down in 5psi adjustments. The differencs are hard to feel, but there there. Hope this helps parrothead,

Any problems with your tpms saying overinflated? I agree with Stars that you should be in the upper 40's at least. I've run a lot of miles on that tire and they are awesome!

No issues with the TPMS . Manual mentions only under-inflated warning. In fact it states that it will initiate a warning if the tire/s are 'significantly' under inflated ,but mentions no specific pressure.Dealer service rep confirmed no issue running higher inflation range tires.

I put some air in my tires tonight. They were all reading around 31-32 psi. I bumped the front up to 44psi and the rear to 42psi. WOW.....what a difference. It drives like a truck now. It is stiffer but a big improvement. I'm glad i ran across this thread....i just assumed they were in spec since it has been to the dealer for service a couple times and the tires have been inspected and rotated (so says them)

Bare in mind parrothead that 44 psi is the max inflation pressure on the stock Bridgestone 265/65/18s. IMO 44 psi is pushing it on cold inflation pressure. Max inflation on the 10 ply E rated tires I'm currently running is 80 psi. So, 45-50 psi cold is not pushing the envelope. I ran my stocks at 35-36 psi unloaded. I think that is a safer range to run them and bump up to near max when loaded.

Thanks for the heads up. In reality, i am "loaded" about 50% of the time. I may back them down to 39-40 in a few days...based on results tomorrow when i hook up a trailer.
